Hi, my name is Georgia and I love art. I have three friends that love art too, Maya, Jacob and Jose. I love to see art, I love to make art and I love to learn about art. I love to make art with paper, crayons, scissors, paint, and clay. I love to make art with anything I can find! Do you love to make art too?One of my favorite places to visit is an art museum with my Maya, Jacob and Jose. Do you know what an art museum is? An art museum is a building that houses art. Art museums have hundreds of pieces of art that an artist used their imagination to create. Do you know what imagination is? Your imagination is your mind! We all have an imagination and artists use their imagination a lot. When I look at art, my imagination gives me all kinds of ideas of things to make with my art supplies. Do you ever look at something and get an idea in your mind? That’s imagination!

The history of the artist’s life can influence the artwork they make. Do you know what an influence is? An influence is the effect of one thing onto another. My parents speak Spanish and English, so I speak Spanish and English too. Sometimes, I like to know the artist history so can pretend that I am a detective trying to solve the mystery of the artwork

Hi, my name is Maya and I love art too. Did you know that artists have their own vocabulary, or set of words, that they think about when they make art?
The Elements of Art are the basic ingredients an artist uses when creating an artwork. The Elements of Art are to an artist like the ingredients of a recipe are to a chef. An artist uses different combinations of the elements to make a masterpiece. The elements are line, shape, color, value, texture, space and form. When I look at art I try to find all the different Elements of Art the artist used in the artwork. What colors do you see? What shapes do you see?

Art can make you feel happy or sad, serious or silly, excited or sleepy…art can make you feel anything! Artists use certain principles when they create their artwork. Do you know what a principle is? A principle is a basic truth or law.
An artist uses the Principles of Art when making their art. When I look at a work of art, I try to find all the Principles of Art and artist may have used in their work. Balance, pattern, emphasis, contrast, movement and rhythm, unity and harmony are all Principles of Art.
I think of an artist like a musician. When an artist uses these principles their artwork sings to me!
